Post covid spo2 fluctuations

2021-06-28 15:18:04
My father(age 62) was diagnosed with covid -19 with CT severity score 21/25 and was admitted in hospital with oxygen support for around 25 days. The medications in hospital included Steroids , anti-coagulants, anti-fibrotics and other medicines. Now, he has been at home for last 1 month and doing physiotherapy and other breathing exercises ( and bed rest for majority of the time ). His spo2 levels while resting is 97-98., But when he walks for 5-10 minutes or does little physical exercise , his saturation falls to 90-91 . (He also still has little dry cough) When will spo2 level fluctuations improve ?

Have graded exercises. Avoid excessive exertion. Spo2 of 90-91 is also physiological and ok. This may improve with time. May be 2-3 months. Whole thing may not come back to normal, but definitely some gradual recovery will be there.
Next Steps
Graded exercises as tolerated by the patient. Good nutrition. Give it time.
