I (post-menopausal, 50, Mirena IUD inserted 10+yrs ago) was today diagnosed with polyps via hysteroscopy. Gynae noted endometrial hyperplasia & poylps. One polyp has grown around the IUD, they attempted removal but were unsuccessful due to pain, so have scheduled me in under anaesthesia in 2 weeks (2 days before travelling [13hr flight]). I would like to know whether this is wise, given the DVT risk & am I still likely to have post-op pain that would inhibit a lot of walking/activity?
