There are many reasons for the type of pigmentation you have described. Most likely you must be having macular amyloidosis. It happens if you have been rubbing your skin frequently or due to sun exposure. Use sunscreen daily and stop itching or rubbing skin ( eg with loofah while bathing) to prevent further damage. Peels may help to a certain extent. Talk to your dermatologist if it is suitable for you.
