Your baby has been having a cough for a while, and we understand how concerning that can be. In babies this young, a cough lasting more than a few days needs careful evaluation. A persistent cough in a 2-month-old can be caused by several things, and we’ll look closely to find the reason and give the right treatment.
Here are some possible causes we consider:
Viral infections – The most common cause; sometimes the cough may last a few weeks even after the virus has gone.
Pertussis (Whooping Cough) – A serious infection in infants that causes coughing fits, sometimes with a “whoop” sound or gasping.- may be azithral may be given by your doctor.
Reflux (GERD) – Stomach contents coming back up can irritate the throat and cause cough.
Airway anomalies – Structural issues like tracheomalacia (soft windpipe) can
lead to a noisy or persistent cough
What you can do:
Keep the baby away from smoke or sick contact.
Feed frequently to keep hydrated
Note any fever, poor feeding, vomiting, or breathing difficulty and inform us immediately
