It is study of scraped uterine cervix cells.. It detects possibility of virus infection and malignant change.. It can be done at any age above 21 yrs after marriage ... Next step depends on screening... It is not painful .but needs cooperation of patient.. Takes 5 min to do pap and 6 hours to report.. Day 8 to day 14 of menstrual cycle is best time ...

Till 60 yrs you can do this test. No pain with the procedure. Except menses day any time this test can be done. It is screening test to diagnose cervical cancer in the early stage
