Thick ropy saliva is common in sialadenitis,  or in the common language, infection and inflammation of one of the salivary glands.  There could be a sialolethiasis or a salivary duct stone.  Or a bad case of dehydration. Many other reasons can be there but u must get urself evaluated by visiting a good dentist who can give u the correct treatment.  Feel free to consult Laser Smile Care Centre anytime.  God bless u always.

Possible reasons include, 1. dehydration leading to thick ropy saliva; 2. New filling / new teeth coming (usually wisdom tooth in your age); 3. Salivary gland stone ( like kidney stone) ; 4. Infection or blockage of saliva duct. 5. Enlarged tonsils,  Plus there are many more. Before you jump to any conclusion yourself, try to rule out these simple causes, drink lots of water to increase watery consistency . Watch out for any redness or swelling. Visit your doctor once

There could be multiple reasons for thick ropy saliva, ranging from dehydration to localised infection in the oral cavity to infection/inflammation of the salivary glands..... the most appropriate step at this point would be to consult a dentist soon for the correct diagnosis and treatment plan..... and the most basic effort from your end which can start right now would be to increase your water intake..... Regards......
