Optimum time to get hearing aids

Hearing loss in both ears and tinnitus. A few years ago I was in the top 10% in hearing strength for my age. I am now about to turn 70, and I do a lot of lecturing. The audiologist I consulted told me that SLE (with which I was diagnosed at age 31) can cause hearing loss. She also said I should get hearing aids as soon as possible, otherwise my ability to distinguish words would deteriorate. Others tell me that getting hearing aids too quickly result sin dependency and more hearing loss

Dear sir, hearing aids are devices that help you to hear better, it's like spectacles for your vision but it's more complicated and involves close monitoring by an audiologist. There is no dependency on hearing aids but who would not like to hear better when given the choice. If you don't use hearing aids, you may develop a condition known as auditory deprivation, that is summed up well by your audiologist that your ability to distinguish among words will deteriorate. Please have a good pair of hearing aids according to your lifestyle and requirements from a qualified and experienced audiologist.
