Unless carefully chosen and vitamin A content is low, daily cod liver oil during breastfeeding is not the safest choice.
Next Steps
For a breastfeeding mother to increase baby’s DHA through milk: • Prefer algal oil DHA supplements (100–300 mg/day). Consider fish oil (without vitamin A) as a safer alternative if algal oil is not available.
Health Tips
Usually full term babies, uneventful pregnancy and delivery , baby is fine , no indication as such .

If mother is not having any known deficiency she need not take it - cod liver oil capsules will also have unknown levels of Vitamin A and D which get stored in liver and may cause their side effects. Baby will automatically have its essential DHA from from breastmilk. It only needs additionally Vitamin D supplements if breast fed exclusively
