So, the primary difference is that OCD is an anxiety disorder, and OCPD is a personality disorder. The treatment line depends on the severity and also on the duration the client has been struggling with it. Hope your query was resolved. Take care.

OCD is characterized by intrusive, distressing thoughts (obsessions) that lead to repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) aimed at reducing anxiety. These behaviors are time-consuming and interfere with daily life. Whereas, OCPD is personality disorder marked by a pervasive pattern of preoccupation with orderliness, perfectionism, control, strict adherence to rules and much more. OCPD relates to one's overall personality traits and tendencies. OCD can develop later on in life from certain factors or events, whereas OCPD is a personality disorder that a person is born with. Individuals with OCPD often lack self-awareness

They do share similarities but they are different. OCD is a mental disorder that may be short term and treatable; OCPD is a personality disorder that is lifelong and can effect a person’s thoughts, behaviour, mood. Yes, both can be treated with medication (SSRIs) and/or therapy (psychotherapy). However, it takes a lot of time and patience with therapy especially when working with OCPD.
Health Tips
It’s best to work with a psychotherapist and a psychiatrist together. For OCPD a diagnosis would be necessary before starting treatment and therapy.
