Iam a 30 year old male with very less physical activities. Iam currently 130kgs. I am on medication for tonic clonic seizures (oxetol 300 for morning and 450 for night). Iam currently not having time to go to a gym or workout. Please suggest how I can reduce weight without working out.

Weight loss is definitely possible even if you don’t have time for the gym. In fact, diet plays the biggest role. At 130 kg, it’s important to first rule out conditions that can contribute to weight gain, such as hypothyroidism, diabetes, sleep apnea, or side effects of medications. Oxcarbazepine (Oxetol) is not usually associated with significant weight gain, but your neurologist should review your treatment before any weight-loss medication is considered. Here are a few practical steps: * Reduce sugar, sweets, sugary drinks, and refined carbohydrates (white rice, maida, bakery items). * Increase protein intake (dal, eggs, paneer, fish, chicken) and include plenty of vegetables. * Eat smaller portions and avoid late-night snacking. * Even if you can’t exercise, try to stay active by walking for 10–15 minutes after meals, using stairs when possible, or taking short movement breaks during the day.

At 130 kg, weight reduction would be beneficial for your overall health. You do not necessarily need a gym or strenuous workout to start losing weight. The most important factor initially is controlling calorie intake through a sustainable diet; physical activity can be added gradually as your schedule permits. Because you are taking medication for seizures, your weight-loss plan should also be coordinated with your treating neurologist. Do not stop or change Oxetol on your own.
Next Steps
Start with: 1. Reduce portions of rice, roti and other refined carbohydrates. 2. Avoid sugary drinks, sweets, fried foods and frequent snacking. 3. Prioritize vegetables, adequate protein and high-fibre foods. 4. Prefer water, unsweetened tea/coffee and other low-calorie beverages. 5. Track your food intake and body weight regularly. 6. Even short periods of walking during the day—such as 10 minutes at a time—can be a practical starting point. 7. A reasonable initial goal is 5–10% weight loss over about 6 months, rather than trying to lose weight rapidly.
Health Tips
Since you have epilepsy, avoid crash diets, prolonged fasting or extreme calorie restriction without medical supervision. If you have been seizure-free, discuss with your neurologist what level of exercise is safe for you. At 130 kg, I would also recommend a medical obesity assessment rather than relying only on diet. Depending on your height/BMI and associated conditions, supervised anti-obesity medication or other treatment options may be appropriate.
