Painful node automatically rules out cancers! It is inflammatory in nature. My ENT colleague is doing a good job. Just trust him and continue his line of treatment. You could ask him to give you an NSAID+ triple-enzymes tablets to faster resolve your problem. Show him this conversation and he will do the needful.

Sudden onset of pain in the thyroid region with nodule in the thyroid is usually secondary to inflammatory thyroid conditions such as subacute thyroiditis. It is usually not due to cancers. It's always better to get usg guided FNAC once pain settles down
Next Steps
Consult nearby ENT specialist for confirmation of diagnosis and appropriate treatment if required
