Nasal Blockage
I don't have a cold, but this has been there for a long time now.
Sometimes, my left nostril gets blocked, sometimes my right. It shifts alternatively. Rarely are they open together. Slight difficulty in breathing as a result. (Maybe) Anxiety/Sadness causes the blockage occasionally too.

I can understand your concern.
What you are experiencing is a nasal cycle in which alternate nostrils open.
It's pretty normal. But sometimes it can be bothersome like in your case.
The cause of such problem needs to be evaluated like you may be having a deviated nasal septum due to which it may be happening.
But that can be said only after looking at your septum.
Consult a ENT Specialist for further help regarding the same.
Use Rhine nasal spray till then.
