Muscular disorder

My 13-year-old niece has a disorder affecting her legs. She can walk but difficult to run and climb steps. It is believed to be linked to consanguineous marriage (marriage between close relatives, such as cousins). Is there any treatment available to help her condition improve?

I would like to examine the patient before suggesting any treatment.
