If your arteries are severely blocked for a long time, some area of the heart becomes permanently dead and pumping power decreases. There is no use of opening those arteries by bypass if the area supplied by them is dead. So this test MPI will tell that , the area supplied is dead or still alive, and you will benefit from bypass or not.
