Bipolar disorder may not be curable as it has strong genetic predisposition but coping up by psychological counseling is possible and by avoiding putting pressure on the patient to struggle changing its current problem( which I think worsens the problem) is most essential in its management.

Bipolar disorder is diagnosed by a psychiatrist clinically by interviewing a patient. There are no laboratory investigations to diagnose bipolar disorder or any other psychiatric illnesses. Psychiatrists are trained to elicit symptoms suggestive of bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder is treatable but not curable. Usually long term treatment is required.
