Menstural cycle delay

Whenever I have intercorse without condom in safe period, my wife's menstural cycle delays. Priviosly it was a delay of about 1 week max but this time it's more than 17 days still it's not happened and we even tested the pregnancy with the kit it is showing negative. Please let me know what could be the reason.
