Lump in tonsil

I can feel a lump just below my left lingual tonsil.And it pains a bit if i try to touch it.It is not the case with my right lingual tonsil.Is there something to worry about? Cancer chances?I am a smoker from past 9 years & chew pan masala(Without tobacco).
