Persistent lower abdominal pain requires a structured clinical evaluation before considering invasive procedures. While diagnostic laparoscopy is an effective way to identify and potentially treat abdominal adhesions (via adhesiolysis), it is a surgical procedure performed under general anesthesia and carries inherent risks, including the risk of forming new adhesions. Please Consult a Specialist: Schedule an evaluation with a gastroenterologist or a general surgeon. Non-Invasive Diagnostic Workup: Prior to surgery, standard practice involves ruling out other causes of lower abdominal pain (such as irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, pelvic floor dysfunction, or urinary conditions) through: Blood and urine tests Abdominal/pelvic ultrasound or contrast-enhanced CT / MRI scans Endoscopy or colonoscopy, if clinically indicated. If non-invasive tests are inconclusive and symptoms severely affect your quality of life, a surgeon will evaluate whether the benefits of a diagnostic laparoscopy outweigh the risks.
Next Steps
Schedule an evaluation with a gastroenterologist or a general surgeon.
