Hi... Typically, managers representing a poor culture demonstrate this kind of pressure tactics. This might be an outcome of internal politics or change in market demand. We need to stop finding our self worth based on our Job performance. This a shallow capitalist idea of reducing a human being into a physical resource and exploiting it to its core. Businesses do not give jobs on charity. They have a work to do, an order to deliver, a product to build, or a service that is needed. They hire people to those tasks that are primarily a product of market demand, competition, economics, etc. I don't know when this idea of finding self worth in a job creeped in our society, maybe post industrial revolution, I suppose. But it is a completely false idea of reducing a human being into a resource. You are only liable to earn a living for yourself and your family. That is because we have created a world that runs on money. Apart from it your job has no relevance to your personality or self worth. A whole lot of Big MNC, Unicorns, Fintech/Edu-tech Startups, etc. have shamelessly fired thousands of their employees recently due to fear of recession in the U.S. and the world. They also paid twice, thrice, even five times more salaries to employees during the pandemic period because of sudden rise in market demand. Its no one's fault. This is how capitalist economies work. We need to accept it and stop finding ourselves in our jobs. We are only liable to earn money to fulfil our needs and than may be our wants. Nothing more is required.
