Left ankle ligamnt sprain

Sir, Before three months i got slipped from steps and my left ankle twisted, Bcz of that swelling and pain is coming still. Doctor suggested for MRI scan for my ankle and i did it. After report he said that this type of ligament injuries cant treat and these dont have any surgery. Here my question is ligament sprains cant treat anywhere in the world. Is it right ? If any treatment please reply me. Thanking you
