Lithotripsy is a treatment of choice for stone up to 1 cm ... Above that it's better to operate and remove so as to assure complete clearance .. n thus reduce the chance of recurrence. According to international guidelines , for ur stone I would recommend either PCNL ( making a pen sized puncture in your back and entering
kidney through that n then break stones n Remove all pieces entirely) or Flex Ureteroscopy (introducing a flexible n slender Ureteroscope through your urethra n going all the way up to the kidneys n then breaking n removing stone).
Both have their pros and cons which any consultant will explain to u ... Both have equivalent success rate... But pcnl is much cheaper than flex Ureteroscopy.
Even after complete removal of all fragments, unfortunately studies have found that recurrence rates can be as high as 45%. To reduce the chances of recurrence, do this - 1 drink 3 lt of water / day ( if ur kidney function is normal, n if u r an adult) so that u generate 2 lt of urine every day ---- best way of reducing recurrence.
2 take citrus fruits - orange , pineapple, lemon
3 non veg restriction to 2 times a week
4 salt restriction... Don't take excess
5 syrup alkalizer 2 to 3 times a day (only after knowing what type of stones u form) ,, always dilute it in glass of water before taking it..
I hope I have cleared lot of ur doubts. :-)
