Most jaw or jawline problems show one or more of these symptoms: • Pain in the jaw, face, or near the ear • Swelling or a visible lump along the jawline • Difficulty or pain while opening/closing the mouth • Clicking or popping sounds in the jaw • Stiffness or locking of the jaw • Toothache without a clear dental cause • Numbness or tingling in lips or chin (rare but important) If pain, swelling, or limited mouth opening lasts more than a few days, a dental or oral specialist check is advised.

The most common causes are jaw joint problems (TMJ), tooth infection, gum infection, or muscle strain. Symptoms can include pain near the ear or jaw, clicking sound while opening the mouth, difficulty opening the mouth fully, swelling, headache, or pain while chewing. Sometimes stress and teeth grinding can also cause jaw pain. If the pain is mild, it may settle on its own. If pain, swelling, or mouth opening problem continues, it is better to visit a dentist for proper check-up.”

Jaw or jawline diseases may show as constant jaw pain, swelling of the face or jaw, difficulty opening or closing the mouth, pain while chewing, jaw clicking or locking, numbness of the lips or chin, or loose teeth without an obvious cause. If these symptoms persist for more than 1–2 weeks, a dental check-up is important.
