Itching during pregnancy

My daughter 30weeks pregnant has itching...she is having itching since a week.. tests were done sgot 61 sgpt 42 ...she is taking udiliv 150 twice daily..itching continues...pl advice

Get an Alkaline phosphatase done. It is the blood level which needs to be checked in case of pregnancy itching. In the meantime she can apply calamine lotion to reduce the itching. Dr Sachin Dalal

Dose of udiliv need to be increased and adjusted according to weight. She can use some lotions.

It's a sign of liver congestion cholestasis. It's a serious issue. Please find a good Obstetrician who really knows how to handle this and work with them. Early delivery may be indicated.

Itching is due to many reasons.....but major factors are cholestasis in pregnancy new tissue being formed to increase tummy girth to accomodate pregnancy Apart from taking the medicines that you have you can try by - changing iron preparation (tabs) - having bath 2 times a day - using moisturising soap - Use of sandalwood paste or lactocalamine totion can be tried....
