Dear Ma'am,
Thank you for your query regarding an irregular menstrual cycle.
It is a known fact that with hormonal medication the cycle is regularised, however ovulation doesn't take place. Ovulation is a prerequisite for conception in a cycle. Chance of conception in a menstrual cycle is 15-20 percent. I would suggest stopping all hormonal medication, maintaining a menstrual diary, doing a day 21 progesterone ( to test ovulation) and a serum
prolactin to determine cause of irregular cycles and starting folic acid supplements.
If you don't conceive for 1 year of unprotected intercourse, would I suggest further testing.
Please discuss your options with your treating Gynaecologist and let me know if any further queries arise.
Regards,
Aditi
