Ingrowing toe nail with infection causes pain and some times form an abscess, needs definitive surgery, which was done under local Anaesthesia, it is a simple day care procedure, depends upon involvement of nail the nail, either needs partial or full removal of involved nail along with nail matrix, simultaneously needs antibiotics and pain medication for a few days, if partially removed or incomplete removal of nail may leads to recurrence of symptoms, my advice is better to meet near by surgeon. Antibiotics will give temporary relief. Better to avoid frequent wetting of nail bed, 2nd point, if already ingrowing toe nail was removed by your surgeon,There is a chance of getting fungal infection or bacterial infection to nail bed because of improper cleaning of nail bed or exposed to dust. Which needs some antifungal creams or antibiotic cream to apply on the nail bed, and Keep nailbed dry and clean.
Next Steps
Continue antibiotics if any signs of infection, like fever, severe pain. And immediately meet near by surgeon for further management.
