I underwent an ingrown toe nail surgery recently, and vertically, there's the gap between nail and the side skin of the toe. And thus theres 3-4 mm of nail bed left open. Doctor has suggested to keep it open, but it is painful. What to do?

You can cover it with an antiseptic band aid till the raw surface of the nail bed is epithelialized If it's too painful take an analgesic But it will definitely heal over time this will last for a few days

Most probably it will heal in due course of time. Do hot fomentation With warm saline.
