Infection post TKR surgery
My father underwent total knee replacement surgery for both the legs. post surgery he developed infection which did not go down, then the doctors did a wound debridement surgery. Again, after 20 days he developed infection and doctors are suggesting the same procedure to handle the bacteria. Is it the right decision to undergo wound debridement surgery for second time post knee surgery. please share your thoughts. would be great if someone can review this case.
Wound debridement might not help here.
If the infection is deep seared he might need a staged clearance of infection which may even involve removal of implants and staged procedures.
At this moment, a judgement wether infection is superficial or deep seared which is note likely should be ascertained.
