Hello, My mother has been taking Thyroxin Sodium IP. Thyroxin 50 tablet  for hypothyroidism since 8 month because then she had hypothyroidism, but recently she showed some health problems,so when she got tested , the test result shows different case now she has hyperthyroidism. So should she stop using Thyroxin 50 or not. Thank you.

Reduce the dose of thyroxine to 25 mcg ... remember to take the same brand of tablet...watch for any increased anxiety,perspiration,tremors,or increase in temperature

Reduce it to 25mcg ...look for the symptoms like palpitations, tremors which suggest hyperthyroidism.. Did she have fever at the time of initial diagnosis? ..did she have any pain then?..any tests like ESR done?..please share old reports as well..

Dose needs to be reduced. Such variations are common. Instead of 50mcg, take thyronorm 25mcg . Repeat tests again after 2 months .
