BP can fluctuate little bit but regular major variations have to be investigated.

Generally when BP measurement is taken after resting for 5 to 10 min. In a calm environment and without any emotional stress. Avoid coffee, tea, cigarette or alcohol intake before checking BP. Position cuff at the level of your heart and take a reading. Check BP in both arms. If there is variation consult a cardiologist. Hi BP variation from time to time is normal. Take best of three after relaxing for five minutes and take the highest reading into account. If that reading is high then consider to consult a Cardiologist.

Before taking BP sit calmly for 5 to 10 minutes,  avoid drinking tea or coffee for 15 minutes. Sit in a chair with back supported, your arm and bp machine are at heart level.  Minor variations in bp will be acceptable but  if bp variation is more then go for a consultation
