Hypersensitivity Pneumoni
My mother is suffering from this disease and she is already under treatment for the past 4 months now. Her spo2 fell down to 70s, had chest tightness and sticky cough. She is on steroids which now being tapered down to 18mg. She is also on 18 hrs oxygen 1-2L. Though after 4 months her spo2 still is about 88-89 and falls when she walks or do normal daily tasks. How much more time will it take. Will oxygen be a permanent thing?

This is an interstitial lung disease.. they behave the way you described.. hypersensitivity pneumonitis is quite controllable if in early stages, but in later stages they become more and more permanent due to fibrosis.. steroids are the only treatment and oxygen is supportive.. you seem to be on correct treatment.. keep patience.. she may be on lifelong steroids and oxygen also.. consult your doctor In detail
