HPV VACCINES
2 HPV vaccines are currently available
1. Bivalent vaccine (Cervarix): against HPV
types 16 & 18 (16, 18 HPV cause 70% of cervical cancers)
2. Quadrivalent vaccine (Gardacil): against HPV 16 ,18 , 6 & 11
USE:
Prophylactic (prevent HPV infections)
Age group: 13 to 19 years ( Prior to sexual activity initiation)
Schedule:
Cervarix (0,1,6)
Gardacil (0,2,6)
You are 27 yrs and sexually active. Recent study suggest that this vaccine can be taken even after age of 19yrs and after sexual exposure also. It has its effect then also.
PCOS and other condition has no effect on HPV vaccine.
HPV vaccine has no side effects as such.
U have to see if u r allergic to that.
