How is latent tb acquired? I have latent tb and been wondering how I acquired it. My doctor said it is acquired through everyday or usual close contact to persons with tb. I had a bf who smokes but doesnt coughs and shows signs of active tb. Or is it just that I have weakened immune system and been infected by other people?

Latent TB occurs when a person has the TB bacteria within their body, but the bacteria are present in very small numbers. They are kept under control by the body’s immune system and do not cause any symptoms. People with latent TB do not feel sick and are not infectious. They cannot pass the bacteria on to other people. In addition they will usually have a normal chest x-ray and a negative sputum test. It could've been caused by exposure to a TB patient in public most likely.
