Perforation of the ear drum occurs in condition known as chronic otitis media. Usually the hole is permanent in this condition and medicines are not really helpful except when ear is discharging. Surgery known as tympanoplasty is the only way to repair the hole in the ear drum. If you have significant problems because of hole in the ear drum then you should consider undergoing surgery
