Hiv symptoms

I fear i might have been infected with hiv 6years back. I have no symptoms. I did a 4th generation CMIA antigen and antibody test which is non reactive after 6 years of possible exposure.I fear that it might be a false negative as I was taking steroids for some treatment for the past 5months.My questions are: 1)Had i been infected with HIV, would I get any symtpoms by now? 2)Can steroids cause immunosuppression and reduce the HIV antibodies so that it cannot be detected by HIV antibody test and cause a false negative?
