About a year and a half ago, I started having slight pain on my left hip, but it was small and usually ignorable. Over time, it went from taking whole soccer games of sprinting, turning and jumping, or 10+ miles of running, to now only taking about 1 mile walking, or crossing my legs. Now, it starts right when I do, no matter how long I've gone.
With regards to your left hip pain is it constant or worsens during activity. If you have not consulted anyone till now , I would suggest getting examined clinically to localise the cause and then start investigating .
