My son is 22 months old , He is suffering from a stomach infection now and lost almost a kg during a day. It has been controlled. He is doing fine now. During admission in hospital his hg level was 9.7. I am thalasemia non carrier. Does he have a chance to get that .His normal weight 12kgs.

A cbc with detailed indices , peripheral smear , reticulocyte count and hb electrophoresis will give the fair idea about the cause of anemia
Next Steps
Should definitely get the child investigated , though it could be nutritional deficiency too

May be he has a chance of bleeding disorder.. u can test the child for that so u can get an idea about the disease if he has or u can know the severity

As you are thalassaemia non carrier . Need to check Status of your husband. Hb 9.7 says he is having moderate anaemia. Cause could be anything. Get one peripheral blood smear and serum ferritin levels and meet a paediatrician
