Hi. I m a senior audiologist and speech language consultant. Your mother had otitis media n lately she is suffering with hearing problem which you are aware of. Now audiometry will confirm on your confirmation of loss; but that's not it. It will also tell us the type n degree to which she has got problem. This is an assumption by ENT considering her age factor but still we stand a chance of having some percentage which is not of permanent damage. This will help us decide her course of treatment and also prevent the future increase in loss. None can help her unless she goes through this test since the course of treatment (let it be hearing aid or medical treatment) will depand on test results.
