How is your other ear?
If you noticed improvement in hearing after pack removal then there are very high chances of improvement after 3 months.
It is a very common complaint by patients that they don't appreciate hearing as good as it was on the day of pack removal. There are few reasons
1. If the other ear is normal, the hearing in operated ear is usually slightly less so one get a feeling that it has not improved. This can be confirmed after pure tone audiometry ( hearing test) after 3 months.
2. After mastoidectomy, healing takes upto 3 months.
And same for the hearing improvement.
3. There can be deposition of secretions.
And most important, mastoidectomy is performed in an ear which has unsafe type of otis media. The primary aim for doing is to make ear safe. Hearing improvement may or may not be there.
From otolaryngologist's point of view, surgery is successful if you get a well healed dry ear.
So relax.... Atleast the threat of infection going to surrounding area is not there now.
