Hello doc,
I have been having hairloss since two months . I have got my blood work done for thyroid, iron ,b12 everything came out clear. so I started using minoxidil since 4 months but it didn't stop hair loss . I recently met a dermatologist who suggested using Bioexidil capixyl . My doubt is that if stop using minoxidil all of sudden and start capixyl does that cause excess shedding ,stopping minoxidil has side effects?? Kindly reply
There are many reasons for hair fall. So first and foremost we have to find the cause with the help of detailed history and examination. Some of the common causes are nutritional deficiency, hormonal causes like androgenic alopecia or patterned baldness, hypothyroidism, telogen effluvium etc. Unless we find and treat the cause there is no point in giving non specific treatment. Oils or shampoos do not have any effect on hair growth as they are not absorbed in the skin.
