Gestational diabetes effects

I had gestational diabetes while pregnancy but now my sugar level is low. My baby's birth weight was 2.9 kg and after 7.5 month it is approx 6.7 kg..It seems very low. Is this related to GD. Should I test sugar level of me and my baby. His diet is also ok and don't have any other problem. What's the problem of not increasing proper weight.
