GAD,depression,ocd mix

Hello Doctor , my psychiatrist told me that i am suffering from generalized anxiety , depression and with some obsessive thoughts like day dreaming and all He has tried buproprion, fluvoxamine , escitalopram but noone really helped me ,i found escitalopram has less side effects on me so i am taking it right now 20 mg dose I am a student and want to study with full energy , motivation, concentration without unnecessary thoughts and day dreaming So is there any good medication for that ? My mother is a schizophrenic patient but i dont have any psychotic symptoms.my whole family has too much thoughts Plz help me

Hi continue your medication and get evaluated for your illness. Its depends on diagnosis from which you will get the answers of your all questions like that which medicine for how long etc.

If your Psychiatrist has already prescribed you Escitalopram bases on the assessment and your tolerability, it is worth trying it for at least 4-6 weeks to see the benefits. Dose may need reviewing. Lack of energy, motivation, ruminations thoughts are all symptoms of anxiety and depression. These medicines should help you with these issues. Medicine is just part of the treatment. Give it a good try and make sure you also engage on cognitive behavior therapy and other lifestyle modifications which is going to help you for faster recovery. Regards
