it can be because of  gum infection or tooth infection.  careful diagnosis and status of tooth is to be evaluated. u better visit ur pedodontist

It is due to infection in the tooth. Please see a dentist to treat the tooth which is infected. Since he is already 10 , your dentist may advise you to remove that tooth since it may be time for that tooth to fall anyway.
