For my lips darkening problem

My lips corners and edges have turned blackish which was not there before .doctor suggested me lipzlite lightning cream which i have just started using since two days. He said to use it twice a day. My question is is this cream efffectve? Will this help getting rid if these darkness? Also if applied more than twice is there any harm in that???
