The painful swelling of the affected foot could be due to ligaments or arch related or a stress fracture of foot bones, usually resulting from increase in physical exercise.Avoid exercise for a few days ,apply ice pack locally and a foot tubi grip, and OTC pain reliever. If not relieved consider going for a CT scan of the affected foot.
