Drug which one is using for a condition which US FDA has not approved is called off label. Using off label is common practice. Almost 20 present prescriptions are off label. It works well for MDD. Their is no particular order of using SSRIs for MDD, it is usually decided by the psychiatrist taking into consideration the patient factors and side effect profile of particular medicine.
