My brother aged 32 years have swelling in both legs and high bp since 02 week. He had done blood tests rft, lft,and cbc .his creatinine level was 3 . 0 , urea 60,and hb 11.6.seeing this blood result doctor refer him higher health center for further evaluation. In his usg abdomen it is found that he has multiple stone in gall bladder and his kidney size reduced Rk- 6x4 cm and left 7x4.5 cm. He is suffering from blood pressure since 09 years and not taking medicine regularly. What to do next? Can he recover completely from this condition?

His kidneys will not recover completely This condition is called CKD chronic kidney disease But the progession of the disease can be slowed down Remember creatinine just indicates function of the kidneys  not the reason why the kidneys are getting damaged He being bp patient, he may be having kidney disease since 9 yrs , We can use of tabs to slowed down the kidney disease Remember most of the kidney patients will be losing protein through the  urine  which like poison to the kidney So we need to reduce that loss

to basic urine test - routine/microscopy, urine PCR/ACR(wch ever available at your place)

As the kidney size is shrunken there is a less chance he will recover completely but with good diet and blood pressure control,avoid smoking and alcohol we  increase his kidney life and keep him from dialysis

Difficult to recover completely from the condition He needs strict blood pressure control and other supportive measures to make sure kidney function is stable as much as possible. Better to followup with a nearby nephrologist regularly
