Fistula surgery wound healing

2023-09-02 07:35:32
I had a fistuletomy about 50 days back. The wound is still not healing. Every 10-12 days, i have bleeding (2 or 3 drops of blood) from the wound after a bowel movement. This happens when i pass bulky stools with high pressure. My question is, if i keep bleeding regularly like this, will the wound heal? Please explain in detail.

Greetings! Fistulectomy is a surgery to remove abnormal connection between rectum/anal canal with the skin. Most commonly it presents as infection rather than bleeding. Probably you might have undergone a surgery for fissures which is not healing yet. Wound healing varies between patients To aid adequate wound healing : diet modifications, stool softeners and sitz bath are to be strictly followed after surgery. (Passing hard stools never allows wound to heal) Kindly consult the surgeon who operated on you the first time. He/she might know better about the proceedings of previous surgery and the current status by examining the wound. Thank you !
