Fever for more than 3 days needs a consultation or lab reports.
You have to measure the temp in the armpit, not in the mouth or with infrared thermometer.
Oral temp is core temp and will be 1.5 to 2 degree higher then armpit temp.
Also need to give paracetamol when temp is such when child starts to feel uncomfortable but not based on time (like every 6 hours). We cannot be mechanical, have to use our brain.
If given to early, then after you give paracetamol the temp rises and peaks after 2 hours and then starts decreasing. This makes parents feel that paracetamol is not working.
Encourage more liquids. Fluids will decrease fever intensity and increase duration between 2 fever spikes.
Check the dose of paracetamol.
Cold sponging in armpits, neck and groin.
