Feeling constipated

2026-09-17 17:21:26
I am unable to pass the stool as soon as I wake up since a month. I take tea and biscuits, then I am able to pass it, but with mild straining. Still I am not fully relieved. My water intake is 5-6 glasses, and my daily meal contains: tea and 2 biscuits in the morning, then a simple breakfast, 2 chappatis with vegetables in lunch and a bowl of dal at night. I think my diet is also less. I have been taking 500mg of calcium for 2 months. What to do, I am in tension!!

Your fibre intake appears to be low. Please increase your water intake to approximately 3–4 litres per day, as tolerated. Include a fresh salad with both lunch and dinner. Avoid biscuits, particularly in the morning, as they commonly contain refined flour (maida). You may include sprouts as part of your morning breakfast.
Next Steps
Increase fibre intake , you can take salad twice daily , sprouts or fruits in the morning . Increase your water intake . Calculate your daily calorie requirement as per your weight and age and take carbohydrates, fat and protein in right proportion.
Health Tips
Try these for few months , or you can consult gastro specialist if this doesn’t work .

Straining most mornings for a month, along with your calcium supplement, can point to slow moving bowels rather than anything serious.
Next Steps
Add more fibre and water through the day, stay active, and ask your doctor if the calcium dose needs adjusting.
Health Tips
See a doctor if this continues past another couple of weeks or if you notice blood or weight loss.
