Excessive bleeding from surgery

How common is it to have excessive bleeding following sinus and septoplasty surgery? Just seen a video whereby a patient was giving a clotting drug and then had to have clots sucked from his throat. Is this standard or unusual?

Normally we don't see any alarming blood loss. This case might be due to the anticoagulant medicine.
